Elder Nominations

The Role of an Elder

The Elder Board serves in the oversight of Bayview Glen Church to ensure that the long-term health of our church is secure.

Areas of oversight include finances, doctrinal positions, priorities, and overall direction. The Elder Board is a mix of cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, ages, occupations, and personal life experiences in order to better understand the needs of the church.

Elders serve a three-year term, renewable only once until they are required to step down for at least one year until re-nomination.

Who can be nominated as an Elder?

  • The biblical requirements of an Elder are found in Titus 1, 1 Timothy 3, and 1 Peter 5

  • The nominee should already be involved in serving in some capacity at Bayview Glen Church

  • Nominees must be Ministry Partners

What Is The Selection Process?

  • Nomination

The process begins with names submitted for nomination by congregants. Ministry leaders will also help identify those already invested in our church.

  • Interview

A Search Committee comprised of two Elders, two congregants and the Lead Pastor will meet with every candidate for an hour-long interview.

  • Appointed

Final candidates are then voted in at the Annual Meeting of Ministry Partners. Elected Elders are expected to continue serving in their various ministry activities.
